As a teacher, I work long hours from 7 a.m. until sometimes 8 p.m. and also finish up assignments on holidays and weekends. It sometimes takes a toll on family time and yet there is always a sparkle in my heart that cheers me up daily. That sparkle is my 7-year-old son who has supported me through thick and thin.
He is my daily companion traveling with me everyday to work. What truly stands out about Jordan Andrew De La Rosa is that he has just started second grade at his third new school (John H. Shary Elementary in Mission). I have been very fortunate to work at some of the best schools and Jordan chooses to attend these campuses. It takes a strong spirited young boy to leave behind friends and instantly make 40 or more friends.
It has made him an independent student who has excelled in chess, writing and sports. He participated in the recent state chess tournament in Houston and won on his first time playing chess. He is a dedicated chess player but also is on the school's creative writing team. He instantly writes creative stories, since he often observed me coaching the writing teams for the past three years after school since he was in kinder.
He plans to publish his first book this year about a robot. Jordan is also a very talented artist. Jordan also excels in sports playing on his Dad's undefeated youth baseball team. He has played as a star short stop and second base. He has played basketball and also loves soccer. This year he plans to rule the field by trying out for quarterback on a mini-tackle football league.
He plans to be a doctor and help children when he grows up. Jordan's dreams are exceptional and judging from his success in the classroom and on the sports field, Jordan is a Kid You Should Know from John H. Shary second grade and with teachers: Mrs. Scrulock and Mrs. Martinez. School principal is Sara Alvarado.
